What can a group of 15 driven people achieve in one day? Dolfin’s Three Peaks Squad has set a goal that is literally quite high: on 4-5 August, our team will be climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales – all within 24 hours. The National Three Peaks Challenge involves going up and down Ben Nevis (1,345 metres above sea level, the tallest mountain in the British Isles), Scafell Pike in the Lake District (rather modest, yet scenic, 978 metres), and Snowdon in Wales (1,085 metres of volcanic rocks and stunning green views).
The journey will begin on Saturday, 4 August, with a departure from London’s King Cross at the crack of dawn. The team will take a train to Glasgow, then drive through the scenic Trossachs National Park, and finally arrive at Fort William – a gateway to the UK’s highest peak, from where the hike will begin at 6pm. Three mountains, 16 hours of climbing, eight hours of driving, 30 litres of water, and a few dozen protein bars later, the challenge should be complete. When asked what drives people to undertake such an exertion, Dolfin’s Giles Cheney, who co-organised the trip replied, ‘We have a really strong team-spirit in the office, our people are motivated and love to challenge convention while supporting each other. This seemed like an exciting way to harness that spirit to support a cause that is close to our hearts. We are truly excited to have a chance to help the foundation whose work we deeply care about.’
The challenge is being undertaken to support the Muscle Help Foundation, a charity that delivers transformational experiences for children and young people with the muscle wasting disease Muscular Dystrophy and allied neuromuscular conditions. The foundation was created in 2003 by Michael McGrath who, after being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy aged 18, made history twenty years later by becoming the first disabled person to lead expeditions to both the North and South Poles. Michael, who was a huge inspiration for Dolfin’s team to embark on the Three Peaks attempt, reminds us: ‘Being enriched by life’s experiences, we learn more about ourselves. Not only do we get closer to realising our own aspirations and dreams, but we may also be given the gift to help others along the way…’

The charity can make a difference in several ways – from improved confidence, greater self-esteem and an increased sense of hopefulness, to a powerful collective identity that connects families together providing them with an essential platform to share knowledge. Moreover, unforgettable memories and lasting friendships are established.
Muscle Help Foundation invites everyone to join the growing tribe of Muscle Warrior fundraisers, participate in the upcoming events, and get involved in the innovative #powerof657 national campaign designed to drive awareness and generate vital funds to help Muscle Help move closer towards their goal of delivering 657 Muscle Dreams, one for every muscle in the human body. As of July 2018, the charity will have delivered 278 Muscle Dream experiences. The charity needs your support, including time, skills and money, to make more of these highly personalised experiences a reality.
Dolfin is delighted to have a chance to contribute to this charity’s life-changing Muscle Dream initiatives.
