Vassilis suggests there is a strong momentum behind manufacturing and consumer spending especially in Europe and the US. However renewed geopolitical risks and benign inflation are causing concerns for investors and policy makers. For fixed income, balance sheet reduction and a pending hike by the Fed, alongside the ECB’s tapering discussion and an ultra-low interest rate environment, paint a bleak picture for government bonds. On the equities side, the recent euro strengthening has restrained equities from breaking above the March highs, but current levels provide an excellent buying opportunity.
