In this short video, she provides a macroeconomic framework for the upcoming month and an overview of our view on each of the main asset classes. Olga believes that global economic conditions remain robust as we enter the last month of the year. The strong economic sentiment has carried over to the month of December, as major economies with strong consumer sentiment and Europe's manufacturer's PMI are at a 17-year high. On the fixed income side, we remain negative on global rates, neutral on investment grade and positive on high yield.

Investment update video: October 2017

Watch our CIO, Vassilis Papaioannou, present our monthly investment update. In this short video, he provides a macroeconomic framework for the upcoming quarter and an overview of the asset classes. He suggests that the recent actions and intentions of the major central banks reaffirm our negative view on the sovereign bond market. We expect steepening of the US curve as the third hike is already priced in and any news on the tax cuts or infrastructure should weigh on the long end. On the equities side, solid PMIs and robust consumer spending are the catalysts for positive trend continuation. As such, we favour Europe, US, Canada and Japan.

Investment update video: September 2017

Watch our CIO, Vassilis Papaioannou, present our monthly investment update. In this short video, he provides a macroeconomic framework for September and an overview of the asset classes. He suggests there is a strong momentum behind manufacturing and consumer spending especially in Europe and the US. However renewed geopolitical risks and benign inflation are causing concerns for investors and policy makers. For fixed income, balance sheet reduction and a pending hike by the Fed, alongside the ECB’s tapering discussion and an ultra-low interest rate environment, paint a bleak picture for government bonds. On the equities side, the recent euro strengthening has restrained equities from breaking above the March highs, but current levels provide an excellent buying opportunity.

Watch our Head of Fixed Income, Alex Eventon, present our monthly investment update. In this short video, he provides a summary of the Investment Team’s current focus on our expectations from the ECB meeting – and do the fundamentals justify action? We continue to be bullish on the Euro, the ECB unwind should lift the European currency. We also remain negative on German bonds: the combination of positive economic momentum and an ECB that is stepping back from quantitative easing will weigh on German government bonds.
